    ​On 23 October 2025, the Supreme Court hosted a scientific conference devoted to judicial crimes committed during the communist era in Poland, entitled “The dimension of injustice – the judiciary during the communist era. Experiences from 1945–1989.” The conference was organised by the Supreme Court in cooperation with the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the Polish People’s Republic.

    ​Following the letter of the Prosecutor General, Waldemar Żurek, dated 19 September 2025, addressed to judges adjudicating in the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, the President of the Supreme Court heading the Criminal Chamber, Zbigniew Kapiński, has sent a letter to the Prosecutor General expressing his opposition to the announcement of unlawful actions violating the independence of the judicial power, the independence of judges and the principle of separation of powers.

    ​Following the letter of the Prosecutor General, Waldemar Żurek, dated 19 September 2025, addressed to judges adjudicating in the Extraordinary Review and Public Affairs Chamber of the Supreme Court, the President of the Supreme Court heading the Extraordinary Review and Public Affairs Chamber, dr hab. Krzysztof Wiak, has sent a letter to the Prosecutor General expressing his opposition to the announcement of unlawful actions violating the independence of the judicial power, the independence of judges and the principle of separation of powers.

    ​Following the letter of the Prosecutor General, Waldemar Żurek, dated 19 September 2025, addressed to 21 judges adjudicating in the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court, the President of the Supreme Court heading the Civil Chamber, Prof. dr hab. Joanna Misztal-Konecka, has sent a letter to the Prosecutor General expressing her opposition to the attack included in the Prosecutor’s letter on the independence of the judicial power, the independence of judges and the constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair and public hearing of a case without undue delay.

    ​As First President of the Supreme Court, I firmly oppose attempts to use the space of an institution whose task is to administer justice for political briefings. Such conduct by a representative of the executive power infringes the fundamental principle of the autonomy of the Supreme Court.
